Semtek Adds UniSwipe™ and UniDock™ to MobileSwipe Family of Mobile Magnetic Stripe Card Readers and PDA Accessories
San Diego, CA (PRWeb) December 5, 2006 -- Semtek Corporation (www.semtek.com), the leading developer of mobile card-reading technologies, today announced the addition of the UniSwipe and UniDock products to the company’s line of Mobile Swipe and Docking products. Both UniSwipe and UniDock were developed in collaboration with Revolve Design.
The UniSwipe/UniDock combination will enable PDA devices such as the Dell Axim, HP iPAQ and other handhelds with the ability to accept data input from magnetic stripe cards and/or to be mounted, charged, and connected to serial port peripheral devices, such as printers, GPS receivers or scanners. It also offers an on-board audio loud speaker system for amplifying the host PDA audio output for use as a hands-free accessory.
UniSwipe and UniDock leverage Semtek’s patented power management for handheld devices. This capability enables the devices to attach to and communicate with a handheld PDA or Smartphone using only the electrical power available as supplied by the device. The technology enables mobile merchants and service personnel to accept credit card payments or input information from a magnetic stripe card into a handheld while effectively managing power usage.
Other important features include multiple vehicle mounting options—ideal for delivery drivers, law enforcement, field service workers, and mobile merchants—and the ability to read three tracks of data.
Semtek’s card readers connect through wireless handheld devices, and support industries requiring mobile commerce applications, on-site lead retrieval, and immediate identity verification. The company’s Mobile Swipe card readers are designed to work with mobile computers and are priced to enable organizations of all sizes to be equipped with a cost-effective, secure means of accepting magnetic stripe card data from remote locations.
